While in Leh, I stayed for more than two weeks at the beautiful Sia-La guesthouse. I chose this place with amazing mountain-views on Stok Kangri (6121m), because of its quiet and central location. This place is an old-time Leh favourite with spacious rooms and very good service. There are seven rooms available. It is just 10 minutes from the Airport and centrally located. The main market, post office, Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, banks and busstand are in short walking distance.
Several restaurants are along Fort road and you can choose between Tibetian, Italian, Ladakhi and Kashmiri food. Sia-La guesthouse is run by the Siala family. It has one VIP-Suite with balcony, this is where I held my daily Yoga-sessions, breakfast and laundry-service, doctor on call and all the rooms have a bathroom with hot & cold water. Sia-La is open in summer and winter. Cable-TV is available in one room which is for common use.
In summertime organic vegetables are grown in the garden and lots of flowers are in bloom. Next to the property is a little stream that makes the very relaxing background-sound for a good nights sleep. After having a look around in the area were the Padma Hotel & Guesthouse is (recommended by Lonely Planet) I chose to stay at Sia-La Guesthouse which is very good value for money and the rooms are stunning.
